TARUS has been acquired by Flex Machine Tools, a family-owned machine tool manufacturer based in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The acquisition became effective July 1.
For more than 50 years, Flex Machine Tools has built machine tool solutions trusted by more than 25,000 customers worldwide. The company's lineup includes FlexArm tapping arms, FlexCNC machining centers, FlexJet waterjets, FlexBeam drill lines, and ergonomic solutions.
The acquisition provides TARUS with additional resources to support continued growth while allowing the company to continue operating under the TARUS name from its Sterling Heights, Michigan headquarters. Customers will continue working with the same TARUS team for sales, engineering, service, and support.
According to Don Kemper, president of Flex Machine Tools and TARUS, the fit between the two companies made sense from the start.
"TARUS has the engineering talent and the capacity. Flex Machine Tools has the demand. Put those together, and we're creating a stronger company that's better positioned to serve customers for years to come. We're investing in the people, the products, and the capabilities that have made TARUS successful."
For Doug Greig, Vice President of Sales at TARUS and former co-owner, finding the right partner for TARUS' next chapter was an important part of the decision.
"We've spent years building relationships with our customers. We wanted to find a company that understood the importance of those relationships and would continue supporting our customers."
Dave Greig, former co-owner of TARUS, believes the partnership preserves what has made the company successful while creating opportunities for the future.
"TARUS has always been about the people, the engineering, and the work we do here. Flex Machine Tools understands what makes this company unique, and I'm confident they'll continue building on what we've created."
For CEO Nick Kennedy, the acquisition is an investment in the long-term future of TARUS.
"TARUS has spent more than 50 years building an outstanding reputation by designing and manufacturing world-class machine tools. That's exactly why this partnership matters. We're investing in the people, the engineering, and the manufacturing capabilities that will help TARUS continue serving customers around the world."
